Whether you’re interested in writing for theatre, TV, or film, you need characters, conflict, and perception shifts. Sound boring? It’s actually awesome. This class will teach the narrative theory that has been used to tell stories from ancient Greek tragedies to Hamilton. We’ll analyze short plays, short films, and song lyrics to see how structure is used to engage an audience. Students will use these techniques to create an outline for their own play, screenplay, or novel.
