Seussical Jr.
Grades K-8
Horton the Elephant, the Cat in the Hat, and all of your favorite Dr. Seuss characters spring to life onstage in SEUSSICAL JR., a fantastical musical extravaganza from Tony winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (LUCKY STIFF, MY FAVORITE YEAR, ONCE ON THIS ISLAND, and RAGTIME). Transporting audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat, our narrator, tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos, including Jojo, a Who child who gets in trouble for thinking too many "thinks." Horton’s challenge is twofold – not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must also guard an abandoned egg that’s been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping, and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family, and community are challenged and emerge triumphant!
Auditions:
June 26, 6:00pm- 8:00pm
June 30, 10:00am – 12:00pm
You will learn and sing a selected musical number and read a scene from the script. Wear or bring comfortable dance attire, as you will be required to learn a short dance/movement combination.
Rehearsals: July 9th – 13th and July 16th - 19th, 1:00pm – 4:00pm
Performs: July 20 @7pm and July 21 @ 3pm

July 18: parent presentation, students arrive 9am and parents arrive 10:30am
9:00 - 10:00am: Jazz Technique/Musical Theater Dance: Learn foundational and enhanced elements of jazz techniques and other musical theater dance skills.
10:00 - 11:00am: Innovative Crafts: Explore your imagination and create magical, Seussical artistic crafts using various mediums.
11:00 - 12:00pm: Improv Theater Skills: Learn various improvisation techniques, games, creative characterization and more.
12:00 – 1:00pm: Bagged Lunch Required
1:00 – 4:00pm: Theater program: Seussical Jr.
Cost: (Payable to Main Street Players and due at auditions)
