This half-day camp is the last week of June, 8:30 am – 12:00 noon. It is for girls ages 9 – 11. The site host is Durand United Church of Christ, 4225 Culver Road (Irondequoit), but girls should plan on spending the time in the outdoors. Just as on TV, campers will form tribes and compete in scavenger hunts, obstacle courses and mental challenges. The activities are designed to develop confidence, enhance leadership skills, foster friendly competition, nurture community spirit, broaden problem solving abilities, encourage team building and promote inclusiveness. The negative aspects of the TV show (voting off the island, awarded immunities, consumption of “gross” food) will not be part of this camp. Limit 24 participants.

Alpha Jump! for 3-6 year olds introduces early literacy skills and physical fitness through the use of original and research supported techniques. Using gymnastics concepts and activities, as well as interactive songs and instruments, your child will connect to learning in a whole new way. This program, designed by professionals in their respective fields and based on the latest research regarding multiple intelligences, language acquisition and gross motor development, goes beyond creative movement and traditional teaching to make a direct connection between your child's physical motor skills and cognitive development. For registration information, call (585) 356-2743, email alphajump@gmail.com, or inquire at your local town recreation center.
