(585) 473-7720 x3056
Summer Art Day School offers children ages 7-13 a solid week of art making. Guided by experienced art teachers, students have fun exploring the creative process, working with a variety of materials and techniques, and gaining inspiration from the MAG collections and exhibitions. Classes are divided by age into one group of seven-to-nine-year-olds and another of ten-to-thirteen-year-olds. Each group enjoys two classes, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. These classes are designed to complement each other and give your child a stimulating experience. Art Day School is not exactly camp; it is fun, structured learning. Children who love art will love Art Day School. Choose from seven one-week sessions, from the end of June until just before Labor Day. Two week sessions are also available.

Sail the Seven Seas Summer Camp
Community Arts Academy
597 East Ave, Rochester NY 14607
585-473-7187
MaryAnn Hamilton, comarts@frontiernet.net
Sail the Seven Seas Summer Camp offers a diverse and inclusive cultural experience for children who have completed kindergarten to grade 6 (6-12 years old). The camp explores six different regions of the world (a different country each week) through music, dance, drama, art projects, food and literature. Each child receives their own passport. Monday through Thursday mornings of each week children learn a song, dance and dramatize folk tales from that country. These sessions are led by experienced specialized teachers. Special guests introduce their county and guest artists also demonstrate native musical instruments. On Friday, the group performs for a senior citizen group or nursing home, enjoys a picnic lunch and then departs for a field trip adventure which connects with the country of the week. Afternoon activities involve swimming on Monday and Wednesdays, creating art projects on Tuesdays and cooking on Thursdays. Before and after care is also available. $125 per week + $25 for extended day.

A mixed-age day camp in the forest of Mendon Ponds Park dedicated to reconnecting childhood with nature. In addition, the camp focuses on reconnecting children with play in general - a quickly vanishing childhood activity in our overstimulated society. At Camp Woods Play, one day builds on the next and learning, art, skits and music come out of a shared experience of nature. The Camp is for children of any age and, as in Scandanvian Forest Kindergartens that the camp is modelled on, parents and care-takers are welcome to participate and assist. For supervised free-play in nature sites are carefully chosen. The lead teachers Marcie Matthews and Angela Caprarotta are Professionally Waldorf and Montessori trained and experienced and both have degrees in biology. Campers are dropped off and picked up at the same location, near bathrooms and a park shelter. Not far from the Mounted Police barns and Wild Wings raptor education center. Organic snacks, filtered water provided. Late June - Late July.
